Former Marine Wen Jones was walking to the beach with his wife and two children recently when he came upon a mob of thugs preparing to beat up a slightly-built guy. Instead of walking away, Jones immediately took action.
“It was not just a situation I could just walk past,” he recounted.
Jones asked the mob to leave their victim alone, but they responded by hurling punches at him. The veteran tried to fight his three attackers, but he eventually fell unconscious and was left with a fractured orbital bone beneath his eye.
Leroy Wright, the man Jones saved, told police that the incident started earlier in the day when the punks were hurling racial slurs at his 14 year-old son. They turned on the father when he stepped in and told them to leave the beach.
“I see that these guys were not backing down, and I literally had to keep them at bay, and I looked up and here was Mr. Jones,” said Wright.
The attackers fled after beating up Jones, but they didn’t get away for long. Patriots took down their license plate numbers and police quickly tracked them down and arrested them.
