Just days after the deadly terrorist attacks in Brussels, a disturbing Air Force briefing warned that there is a strong potential threat of America’s enemies attempting to shut down its electrical supply for months via a direct physical terror attack or an electromagnetic pulse explosion.
Reporters for the Washington Examiner reviewed the briefing afterwards, and they wrote that Air Force officials worry that “determined adversaries” like North Korea and the Islamic State group may want to undermine the America’s power supply.
“Experts have suggested that North Korea, for example, is testing missiles to launch a nuclear weapon from a ship off the U.S. coast into the atmosphere where an explosion could shut off electricity for months through an atmospheric EMP explosion,” the paper wrote, according to Conservative Tribune.
Given the fact that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un loves to play with nuclear weapons and is constantly threatening to attack the US, a plan like this sounds terrifyingly plausible.
Air Force officials also warned that other factors could take out the US’s power supply. They specifically eluded to the power grid’s “aging infrastructure” and also to a “pattern of increasingly extreme and unpredictable storms” and “catastrophic earthquakes” that could knock power out for months at a time, leaving America extremely vulnerable to attack.
In addition, officials spoke at the briefing about a “growing number of cyberattacks” on the grid.
The bottomline is that despite what Obama says, our country is vulnerable to attack now more than ever. SHARE this story if you think MORE action needs to be taken to protect America!
