After the final ever performance of Carrie Underwood on American Idol, everyone watching was in goose bumps, with many being filled with tears.
It was a very big deal for Carrie that she was selected to be the American Idol alumni to close out the final ever show. It ended with a two hour show that had 12.94 million watchers!
She used the opportunity to do what she does best, spread the word about her Christian faith.
Fact: She has always been outspoken about her devout faith to Christianity. Her and her husband, Mike Fisher, regularly pray together and when they just started dating each other they would read “The Purpose Driven Life” by Pastor Rick Warren together. They do regular Bible study as well. They have a one year old son who will be brought up in the Christian faith. Even today, Carrie still writes and sings songs about Christianity.

To finish out the final show, she could have chosen any number of her hit songs, but instead she decided to sing one about Christianity. She knew fully well what sort of impact this would have on the audience watching at home.
It was her song “Something in the Water” that talks about themes such as baptism, conversion and staying faithful. Some of the lyrics include; “I followed that preacher down to the river and now I am changed, and now I’m stronger, there must have been something in the water.”
She managed to top of everything by doing something amazing at the end of her performance.
She gave a jaw dropping display on live television. Her voice was flawless and the stage was amazing. This emotional performance gave great joy to millions of people across the world.
This performance was simply breath-taking and left many people stunned and crying in their seats due to the pure beauty of the song.
Fact: When the lights finally went out after the performance, the cameras picked up on Carrie mouthing the words “Praise the Lord” when she was holding her right hand to heaven.
It was not just a legendary performance, it was simply divine.
It really brought her journey full circle. It was on that stage that she had become a household name by singing about Jesus.
She has always been humble in success and has praised the Lord for all that he has given her.
