GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz got some very good news on Friday when a court case that claimed he was not eligible to run on the ballot in Pennsylvania was thrown out of court.
According to IJ Review, the lawsuit claimed Cruz was not eligible to be on the ballot because he was born in Canada. It was filed by Pittsburgh resident and registered Republican voter Carmon Elliott, but the state Supreme Court upheld a lower-court judge’s decision to dismiss the case.
The case was dismissed after Judge Dan Pellegrini argued that Cruz’s mother has always been a U.S. citizen, and common law dictates that because of this, it doesn’t matter where he was born.
