During a recent Donald Trump rally in Florida, a group known as the Freedom Kids wowed the audience with their patriotic and original song.
Now, however, these kids have come back to haunt Trump in a big way. Jeff Popick, father of the Freedom Kid and author of “Freedom’s Call” (the song performed at the Trump rally), revealed on Monday that he is planning to file a lawsuit against the Trump campaign for violating its agreement with the group.
“This is not a billion-dollar lawsuit,” Popick said, according to The Political Insider. “I’m doing this because I think they have to do the right thing. And if this means having to go through the court system to enforce them doing the right thing, then that’s what I have to do. I’m not looking to do battle with the Trump campaign, but I have to show my girls that this is the right thing.”
The father said that his original agreement with the campaign was that the Kids would make two appearances in Florida, where Popick lives. The first event did not end up happening, but Popick claims he asked for $2,500 in payment for the second performance, in Pensacola. The campaign then made a counter offer, and Popick took the deal. When the group arrived at the event, however, there was no table and Popick said the result was “complete chaos,” he said. “They clearly had made no provisions for that.”
Believing he was owed compensation, Popick tried to contact the campaign afterward, but they ignored him. He now says he lost several promotional opportunities due to confusion over his relationship with the campaign.
