There’s nothing that Michelle Obama is more proud of from her time as first lady than her precious “Let’s Move” initiative, which aims to fight against childhood obesity. Unfortunately for her, a new study has just been released that proves that despite Michelle’s efforts, children are still as overweight as ever.
According to Daily Caller, the study was printed on Tuesday in the Journal Obesity. The study was conducted by Duke University scientist Asheley Skinner’s team, and they studied data from the CDC’s National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and found that the percentage of overweight and obese children between 2 and 19 years old has actually increased across the board since 1999.
Michelle has been desperately trying to hide this study, since it proves her efforts to force children to eat healthier foods and exercise more have failed miserably.
The study found that in 1999, 27.5% of all youth between 2 and 19 years old were considered overweight. By the 2011-2012 study, this number increased to 31.8%, and it went up again to 33.2% the next year.
“There is no evidence of a change in obesity prevalence in any age group, despite substantial clinical and policy efforts targeting the issue,” the study’s authors concluded, much to Michelle’s dismay.
“If we assume that our goal out of policy is to reduce the prevalence, that’s a goal we’re not meeting,” Skinner said in a statement, taking a clear shot at Michelle.
