When a California woman went to grab lunch at an upscale restaurant, she never expected this to happen next.
According to Mad World News, professional surfer and model Anastasia Ashley went to an upscale seafood restaurant called Gulfstream and was immediately kicked out because her shorts were “too short.” The livid woman immediately took to Instagram to ask her 1.1 million followers if they saw any problem with her outfit.
“Does this look like an inappropriate California lunch outfit?” she asked in the post. “My shorts aren’t too short and I think as a woman I can choose the shorts I want to wear and I don’t need a restaurant to dress me and tell me what is appropriate or not.”
I was just discriminated against in a restaurant for my shorts being too short. My shorts aren’t too short and I think as a woman I can choose the shorts I want to wear and I don’t need a restaurant to dress me and tell me what is appropriate or not. Does this look like an inappropriate California lunch outfit? and they aren’t even that short ????
Her fans were quick to come to her defense, with one user writing, “You’re perfectly dressed just not for them! Plenty of fine establishments that are more than happy to serve you! Don’t waste your time and money on a place that doesn’t respect you!”
Others weren’t so quick to defend Ashley.
“It’s called a dress code, many restaurants/clubs/etc. have them. Welcome to reality,” another user wrote. “As others have mentioned, you are clearly not wearing a bra. The fact that everyone can see your nips probably factored into their decision, whether or not they mentioned it.”
A spokesman for the restaurant denied kicking Ashley out, saying, “She was here she was never asked to leave, those are just her interpretations, which are unfortunately not true.”
Do you think her shorts warranted being kicked out of the restaurant? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
