Americans were furious over the weekend after KTLA meteorologist Liberte Chan was forced to put on a sweater on live TV because some viewers complained about her attire.
“What’s going on,” a clearly-confused Chan asked as morning anchor Chris Burrous held out a sweater to her. “You want me to put this on? Why? ‘Cause it’s cold?”
“We’re getting a lot of emails,” he replied as she put on the sweater. “There you go.”
According to Conservative Tribune, Chan had put on the black dress because her original outfit didn’t work well with the green screen behind her. Some viewers didn’t approve of the dress, and they let her station know it.
“Liberte Chan’s dress is totally inappropriate, looks like she didn’t make it home from her cocktail party,” said one email.
“Weather girl looks like she never went home from last night’s stripper gig,” another stated.
In the end, everyone apologized for offending people. Chan apologized for offending viewers by wearing the dress in the first place, and Burrous apologized to those who were offended by him handing her a sweater.
KTLA later did a follow-up segment in which they tried to explain what happened, but that didn’t stop people from accusing Burrous of body-shaming Chan.
What a mess!
