Conservatives everywhere were stunned this week when it was revealed that Texas Senator Ted Cruz is vetting former presidential contender Carly Fiorina to be his Vice President.
According to The Weekly Standard, a spokesman for Fiorina confirmed that the former Hewlett-Packard CEO is being vetted by the Cruz campaign.
Sarah Isgur Flores, who served as deputy campaign manager during Fiorina’s bid, described the vetting process as “normal.” She added that though Fiorina has met with members of the Cruz campaign and has given them financial disclosures and other documentation, “no offers” have been made.
Fiorina endorsed Cruz back in March, right when her own campaign ended. Since then, she has made multiple appearances on his behalf and introduced him at a recent campaign stop in Maryland.
After this story broke, Cruz campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart released a brief statement about the vetting process.
“We’ve already announced publicly that we’re vetting prospecting VP nominees, but no selection has been made yet,” she said. “When that decision has been made, we will share it.”
