Tim McGraw Has Shared An Amazing Story About The Song That He Sang To His Daughters

When Tim McGraw was asked for his most loved song of all time, it ended up being a life lesson for all those listening.

Having being raised in a small town in Louisiana, he was often on the road as his stepfather drove an 18 wheeler.

It was on these trips that he was influenced by the country music singers he was listening to.

“By the time I was six, I felt as if I knew the words to every album Merle Haggard ever recorded,” Tim revealed.

He has now been married for 20 years and has three wonderful daughters. He is more aware now than ever of how influential his music can be to others.

He recently said in an interview that between the hundred plus songs that he was written, it was “Humble and Kind” that was his all-time favorite. Wait until you hear the reason why.

He says the song was always an ode to his children, because he constantly taught them to be humble and kind, despite what life tried to throw into their paths.

“With everything that’s going on in the world, I think it’s a message that needs to be heard,” Tim explained. “I feel like I’m a messenger.”

This is the last song on his newest album, but it was written many years ago. He was always concerned that he would not be able to do justice to the song, but decided to release it after he had dropped his first daughter to college. He had become overwhelmed with emotion and was in ears as he recorded it finally in the studio.

“We spent 30 minutes on it and I cried through every take,” he revealed. “I would try to get myself together and I would get halfway through it and I would just start blubbering every time I tried to sing a line.”

With so many celebrities being involved in family scandals as of late, it is great to see someone like Tim to always emphasize the importance of humbleness and kindness to his children.

“Everybody goes through dark times. I think getting yourself outside of yourself is the hardest thing,” he continued. “[Humble and Kind] teaches all of us a lesson. Certainly, it’s really a love letter to a child, but for all of us, there’s something to be learned in it.”

In order to try stay humble, he uses his wife and fellow country singer Faith Hill to keep him in check. When eve their lives become too chaotic, one of them gives the other a nice big slice of humble pie.

“There have been times where I haven’t had as much humility as I’ve needed. Sure enough, as soon as you go through those times, something slaps you upside the head and reminds you you need it. It’s usually my wife!” Tim explained.

They are both still extremely proud of each other even after all these years. You can see an example of this by looking at the Instagram post following the release of “Humble and Kind.”
