During his final rally before the New York primary, Donald Trump made an unfortunate slip-of-the-tongue when he mixed up 9/11 with a popular convenience store chain.
“It’s very close to my heart because I was down there, and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action,” Trump told the crowd in Buffalo, according to Daily Mail.
This was actually Trump’s second mistake of the night. When Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan introduced him, Trump said the former Jets coach “won championships’ in New York,” which never happened.
While the 9/11 comment may seem like a simple mistake, the wounds from the attacks are still fresh for millions of New Yorkers. We can only hope that this slip-up doesn’t ruin Trump’s chances in his home state.
